Open for Dinner: The Daily Dose, Inc.
I imagine my heaven to be paved with sandwiches from The Daily Dose, which has me feeling morally conflicted. Keep the Dose to myself and never go to heaven, or tell the world and give this place the praise it deserves.
Find the Daily Dose hidden in a little brick alleyway in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. Boss will need directions, but will probably take credit for finding it.
Dinners will be long - think three hours - now served Tuesday through Saturday. Good for special evenings with friends, family, or Boss' new girlfriend. Alternatively, the Dose is bustling by day, and open seven days a week for brunch and lunch.
The menu is in constant rotation and is dictated by whatever founder and chef Sarkis Vartanian can get fresh that day. Sarkis is the mastermind behind every aspect of this place, and adds just as much character as the bulb lights.
BYOB, no corkage fee. And when you run out of wine (and you will) the convenience mart down the street is open till midnight.
Call in advance, mention all of Boss' dietary restrictions. The menu will be handwritten; you only see it if you ask.
Oh and by the way, the Daily Dose is famous for their Farmer sandwich. It's a sublime combination of roasted squash, avocado, heirloom potatoes, tomatoes, and a house-made veggie patty. Imagine that, smothered in burrata, pesto, and ancho chili jam, which seeps, unapologetically, through freshly made olive bread. It's the best sandwich I've ever had.
